2024 年自殺統計:香港自殺率超越全球平均

29/9/2025

On September 10, World Suicide Prevention Day, the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) Centre for Suicide Research and Prevention (CSRP) and Suicide Prevention Services (SPS) held a press conference to present the latest suicide statistics in Hong Kong. The estimated suicide rate for 2024 is 14.1 per 100,000, an increase from 13.5 in 2023. The overall age-standardized suicide rate is 10.6 for 2024, surpassing the global rate of 8.9 for 2021 (World Health Organization, 2025). Notably, the suicide rate among young adult males aged 25-39 surged from 10.0 in 2021 to 14.4 in 2024, largely due to financial issues, with unemployed individuals facing a risk 5-6 times greater than their employed peers.

In response to these challenges, our innovative AI-EEG Screening Platform for Depression aims to identify hidden cases of depression within our community, spanning from teenagers to the elderly. Early recognition of depression is crucial, as it enables individuals to seek treatment sooner and helps prevent tragic outcomes like suicide. We can assist governments and schools in identifying these hidden patients, especially as the number of student suicide cases continues to rise.

Stay tuned for updates on our technology!
