There are 2 main causes of strokes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:29px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul style=\"color:#4e98ff\" class=\"wp-block-list has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-a98838dbb6d6e140af847f040c76cff8\">\n<li>Ischemic \u2013 where the blood supply is stopped because of a blood clot, accounting for 85% of all cases<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hemorrhagic \u2013 where a weakened blood vessel supplying the brain bursts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:34px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left has-medium-font-size\">Stroke is studied in animal models by permanently or transiently occluding a cerebral artery that causes a severe reduction in cerebral blood flow (CBF) in the territory of that artery.
